Te Whanganui-A-Hei

September 18, 2023

While in Coromandel, I got to visit Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove). It was a remarkable and unforgettable experience. Aotearoa had extremely heavy rains last year and therefore the cove is only accessible by water. We paddled a kayak to the beach. This added an extra layer of adventure to the experience. Throughout the journey, I marveled at the breathtaking coastal scenery. The turquoise hues of the Pacific Ocean contrasted with the green cliffs and golden sandy beaches. It was literally a postcard that seemed too picturesque to be real.

As we approached Cathedral Cove, I couldn't wait to set foot on the beach and explore the famous natural rock archway. The beach is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs that frame the beach. It created a sense of tranquility and seclusion that made me feel like we had discovered a hidden paradise.

Once ashore, we spent around an hour exploring the beach and cave. Cathedral Cove was featured in Naria, and I truely felt like I had stepped into a different world. I even took a quick dip in the crystal-clear water. It was a day filled with awe, reminding me of the incredible opportunities that come with exploring the outdoors.
