Adventures in Fiji

October 16, 2023

Every experience in Fiji was an adventure.

We had the opportunity to explore the underwater world and the untouched natural beauty of the coral reefs and marine life. In the Yasawas we took full advantage of the free snorkels and enjoyed a swim in the ocean every day.

There was an insane amount of fish and the most beautiful coral I have ever seen. I loved looking up the different species of marine life, and trying to identify the fish! Emily and I loved snorkeling with the Mantra Rays. It was so cool getting to see such magical creatures, up close.

We also felt a bit daring and participated in a Shark snorkel as well. We saw 5 reef sharks in total and they were both black and white tip sharks. This was my first time seeing a shark from inside the water and it completely changed my perspective!

We rented a car and took a road trip down the coast with some of our friends also participating in the University of Auckland study abroad program. It was a fun experience, but kinda scary. Driving in Fiji was my first time driving on the left side of the road and on the left side of the car.

We also made a ton of friends throughout the trip. It was cool getting to meet travelers from all over the world.

All in all, I had a great time in Fiji and we survived our many excursions and budget activities.
