My original departure date was Saturday, July 8th. Unfortunately, I missed my first flight. I was unprepared for the airport and after getting very lost and confused, I was too late to check in for my flight. After that minor setback, the airline attendant rescheduled my flight for Monday, July 10th. I arrived at the HNL airport 4 hours early. The flight was around nine hours! It was my first international flight and the longest time I have ever sat on a plane. After arriving in Auckland, they disinfected the entire flight with an aerosol spray. After deplaning, I had to go through immigration, then customs, and then customs biosecurity. If you are planning on bringing any hiking or outdoor gear you must declare it on your customs card. The customs officers will clean any residual dirt or other biomatter left on hiking gear and equipment.
