I was walking through the University of Aucklandʻs City Campus one day, and I saw these beautiful red flowers. The plant looked incredible similar to the ʻŌhiʻa Lehua trees found throughout the Hawaiian Islands. I'm unsure if these are the same variety, but it was so cool to see a plant that could thrive in both Hawaiʻi tropical climate, and Aotearoaʻs subtropical climate. The July weather in Auckland has been cold with high around 14 degrees celsius (57 fahrenheit).
